Are you a Florida Atlantic University alumnus with a story to share? Your school wants to hear from you.
As I wrote about in a story in Monday’s Sun Sentinel, the university is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding this year.
FAU officials are asking alumni, retired faculty and others who spent time at FAU to share their memories on a special website, fau.edu/50th.
There are a few contributions up already. Professor Emeritus Raymond McAllister, an early faculty member, tells an interesting story about how a tragedy at sea involving a nuclear powered submarine, the U.S.S. Thresher, served as a catalyst for FAU’s ocean engineering program.. You can check out his full story here.
Cathy Sniegocki Billoni, class of 1997, tells how she met her future husband on her first day at FAU. Talk about a nice welcome.
If you would like to share your story, you can send it directly to Lynn Laurenti, an FAU alumnus and special assistant to the president, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
